MY MONDAY MORNING MOJO!!

Em 1990, após fazer bastante barulho na cena independente americana, com o grupo Pussy Galore, Jon Spencer [vocal/guitarra] formou o Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, com Judan Bauer [guitarra], Russel Simins e nenhum baixista. Essa banda novaiorquina faz uma música única no rock americano. O blues, o soul, o punk, o funk, o rap, o rockabilly e tudo que for ritmo são fundidos para dá o espírito autêntico e barulhento do som da banda. A maior parte da discografia do Jon Spencer Blues Explosion foi lançada pela respeitada Matador Records, e podemos destacar os álbuns Extra Width [1993], Orange [1994], Now I Got Worry [1996] e Acme [1998], como base para compreensão da música do grupo. O disco Controversial Negro [1997] é um registro ao vivo da banda. Já Xtra-Acme USA [1999] traz faixas que não entraram no álbum anterior e remixes, músicas produzidas/remixadas por nomes como Moby, Steve Albini, entre outros. A enérgica música do Jon Spencer Blues Explosion representa muito bem o conceito alternativo.
